1840 Guest House

By far the nicest, coziest b&b I've ever stayed in, and my husband and I have done dozens. The common area is so comfortable and beautiful, we ended up hanging out there, playing pool and board games, and sipping their delicious coffee most evenings. The location is perfect. Walking distance to literally everything. The rooms are spacious, pleasant and clean. The pool was amazing on this scorching hot weekend, too, and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub! But what made the stay most wonderful were the new owners, Christina and Orlando. Thank you SO much for all your recommendations and being the warmest hosts! We'll definitely be back. (Hope you don't mind!)

The room was amazing. Lots of space, a lovely balcony, the bed was very comfortable and the room was nicely decorated. Steps from the main street in merrickville. The service was excellent. Great amenities. We really enjoyed the hottub and space to sit and relax outside. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Update - Nov 2025 This is our second time to the 1840 guest house. The owners are fantastic hosts. We've stayed in the annex both times. Comfortable bed, great pillows, luxurious bathrobes and even the sheets are something to rave about. A little piece of paradise. Will definitely keep coming back.

We had a fantastic stay at the 1840 Guest House! Orlando & Christina were absolutely wonderful hosts – so welcoming & gracious, making us feel right at home. The house itself is charming, spotless & full of character. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. We will definitely be returning & highly recommend it to anyone visiting Merrickville!

Amazing place right in the centre of Merrickville. Place is clean and with the spa amenities that you’d want to have for a relaxing weekend getaway. They also have snacks and coffee throughout the day and light stuff that you can get in the morning (yogurt, bar, fruit). The lovely couple who are the new owners of this inn was very lovely. Hope to come back in the winter!

The owner/proprietors were amazing! The service, attention to detail and helpful information given was amazing! They went above and beyond to make our stay amazing ! We will tell our friends and we will be back!

This spot is a gem. Located in the heart of town. We stayed here on a bike trip, loved the pool and hot tub, cleanliness of guest house and the light breakfast. Christina and Orlando are super hosts, friendly, helpful and go out of their way to accommodate their guests needs.

We were travelling up the Rideau by boat and needed a place to rest after a steamy hot day. When we arrived at 1840, Christine and Orlando received us as if we were old friends. The rooms were gorgeous- clean, spacious, well appointed as was the main reception area- complete with board games! The oasis out back with sauna, hot tub and pool was an amazing reprieve from the oppressive heat. The location couldn’t have been better- just a stone’s throw from restaurants, cafe’s and the locks. Thank you again Christine and Orlando for making our stay here so memorable. We will definitely be back!
